Welcome to the 2001 Destructo! Awards.
What are the Destructo! Awards you ask? Well, what we
did was select our three "fav's" and "worst"
for each of the following categories in the nav bar
below: Movies, Music, Games, DVD, Internet, Gadgets,
Toys and Books. This is a multimedia and entertainment
news site and we do consider our selves an authority
on such things. So when Luke came up with the idea,
we really had no choice but to share our opinions with
you. Now, enjoy the 2001 Destructo! Awards.

I waited two months to see this movie. When it
finally arrived at my local theater and I got to
see it, I couldn't take my eyes off it. Fantastic
movie. If you haven't watched this yet, then you
need to turn off Pearl Harbor and rent Memento. |
| 2. LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring |
| |
I love movies that swallow me up and take me to
another world. LotR did just that. I never read
the trilogy, so it was all new to me and I loved
it. |
| 3. Ocean's Eleven |
| |
A remake of a rat pack flick with a ensamble cast
and great music directed by Steven Soderbergh makes
for a very cool and enjoyable movie. |

I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this one. To
make a long story short, I was on a double date
with my fiance and I couldn't wait to for this movie
to end after the first 15 minutes. I started to
count the scratches in the print. |
| 2. The Crow: Salvation |
| |
why oh why did they have to make this movie? |
| 3. The Musketeer |
| |
This movie is so cut and paste, it gives you a
headache. |

AWESOME!!! One of the best movies of all times.
Someone said a bunch of Oscars? Yeah, me!!! The
confirmation of a fact I knew since long ago: Peter
Jackson's got lots of TALENT. |
| 2. Shrek |
| |
'Cause it's the best animation film I've seen
since Beauty and the Beast and one of the funniest/best
movies I've ever seen. A movie for the whole family,
REALLY, children are not treated like if they were
stupid and adults may enjoy it as much or even more
than kids. All fairy tales should be like this one.
And I absolutely love Donkey/Eddy Murphy, he should
be nominated for an oscar, I MEAN it. |
| 3. A.I. |
| |
Although it has a couple details I'm not so convinced
about, it has the best from both Spielberg and Kubrick.
I actually think Stanley would have been very happy
with what his friend Steven's made. I'm among those
who love the ending. And as always, John Williams'
score is outstanding. Another great fairy tale.
Super-toys last all summer long... Indeed.

| 1. Amnesiac - Radiohead |
| |
An epic album with amazing lyrics. Combining solid
musicianship with strange electronics, they create
a musical landscape perfect for Thom Yorke's melon
collie vocals. |
| 2. Is This It - The Strokes |
| |
The heirs to the New York Rock Gods throne, they
rock like the Ramones and Blondie while Julias Casablancas
crones smut like "Can't you see I'm trying,
I don't even like it, I just lied to get to your
apartment" with a voice that sounds like Lou
Reed crooning through a pay phone. |
| 3. White Blood Cells - Whitestripes |
| |
A great piece of Rock and Roll from a band you
should be listening to. |

| Note: I hate most
if not all modern R&B, country, rap, etc. so
my list is dedicated to bands that think they are
good. |

Lame pop punk for faux-rebels. |
| 2. Creed - Whatever the hell their
new album is called. |
| 3. Old New Songs - Limp Bizkit |

It's hard to make something good out of a pile
of shit. |

I think these guys just keep getting better and

| 2. Tweekend - Crystal Method |

I had their last album: Vegas in my Neon's CD
changer since it's release. A very good electronic
album. |
| 3. Ocean's Eleven Soundtrack |
| |
Think of Fatboy Slim doing jazz music, this is
what you get from Dave Holmes, the guy who does
most of the album. You also get some tracks from
Percy Faith, Perry Como, Elvis and more. |

Hip Hop |
| |
My parents tried to raise me on country, I never
really liked R&B. I grew up on hip hop and todays
hip hop makes me sad. It sounds like shit and I
guess this is what they are into right now because
it all sounds the same. It's a dark time for music.
I'm eagerly awaiting the new Prodigy and Beastie
albums due later this year. |

| 1. Loco - Fun Lovin' Criminals |
| |
They're still the suavest and smoothest band nowadays.
Funk, rock, a bit of punk, some hip-hop, a couple
drops of lounge, electrosoul... And the result's
just awesome. In addition, I had the opportunity
to see them live here in Madrid, and they ROCKED
the joint!!! Barry White also saved my life. |
| 2. Looking for la fiesta -
Fundación Tony Manero |
| |
As you may guess by the band's name... Disco Music
at its best!!! They're from Barcelona, Spain. Some
of the songs are in spanish and most in english.
But they all are GROOVY and make you wanna dance
like mad!!! Saw them live also and had great fun
dancing with my buddies and remembering good ol'
late 70's (with both the covers and their own songs).
As far as I'm concerned, the best spanish band EVER. |
| 3. Music - Madonna |
| |
This woman really knows about the music business.
She has reinvented herself so many times... And
she always has succedeed. But I didn't dig her previous
works, they weren't my kind of stuff. But "Music"'s
one of the best albums I've heard. Really modern
and so well done, taking advantage of all the electronic
stuff out there and served up with tons of class
and taste. She's got balls!!!

would like this movie, but I did and the DVD really
helped. All kinds of info on musical influences,
fashion influences and set design ideas. A Fatboy

| 1. The World Is Not Enough |
| |
The best Bond movie so far, and I'm and old school
fan, but I think Pierce Brosnan's the best Bond,
and Sophie Marceau the best actress who took part
in the saga. Her character in TWINE, Elektra King,
happens to be as well not only the best Bond girl
ever, but one of my favorite female characters in
movie history along with Leia and Ripley. The extras
are nothing out of this world, but they're fine,
as well as all the menu graphics and such. |
| 2. Superman: Special Edition |
| |
One of my all time favs and still the best comic
adaption to the big screen. Not to mention John
Williams' soundtrack!!! The extras rock, specially
those eight extra minutes added to the movie. |
| 3. The Terminator: Special Edition |
| |
Another all time fav and one of the most important
movies from those wonderful 80's. Great extras and
one of the best envelope boxes I've seen. There
are some different ones depending on the countries,
here in Spain it's an imitation of a metallic texture
featuring a rockin' pic of Arnie as T-800, with
that red cyborg eye standing out from the rest.
It catches your attention so badly that you only
have one option: buy it.
