January 1st, 2002 was a big day for Destructo Project. We launched version 2 and the 2001 Destructo Awards. I started working on version 2 of Destructo Project earlier that fall. The result is this bloated design you see before you. I thought it was pretty good back then, but I didn't know any better. I kept the rotating banners in the header because it was my first attempt at a liquid design and didn't really know what else to do. Once again, I didn't do a proper back up of this design and lost the original expandable menu. I didn't feel like recoding, so I put up this lazy menu that only took me about 56 seconds to make, not including the hyper links... yeah I'm getting a bit slow in my old age.
The 2001 Destructo Awards was an idea that I hoped would bring more people to the site. I and the staff (Luke & Elektro) listed what we liked and didn't like for 2001 for movies, music, video games and more. The Destructo Awards did what they were supposed to do and actually created some traffic. The staff jumped from three to twelve in about four months. I call that the golden era of Destructo.
